I have been a fully qualified Teacher of English since the year 2000. I have always found inspiration in literature and am never happier than when I am able to spend time exploring different interpretations of a text. Language, its rhythms, patterns and variety of meanings are also an area of fascination. Guiding a student as they explore these aspects of a text is always a delight.
I enjoy most genres of fiction, particularly science fiction and fantasy. My favourite writers include Jane Austen, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood and of course William Shakespeare, In all cases, it is their use of language which draws me in. I am also an avid collector and reader of modern comics, which I have often found to be a powerful teaching aid. In my spare time, I am a writer and podcaster, as well as an enthusiastic amateur astronomer.
