I have a proven record of helping each pupil achieve their full potential and thoroughly enjoy supporting individuals to explore and discover the richness of the English language and experience the fascination of different literary texts. I have worked as a tutor for over thirty years across a range of ages and settings and enjoy nothing more than enabling pupils to thrive and grow in confidence.
My thorough knowledge of curriculum and the requirements of examinations was enhanced by my work as an Ofsted Inspector where upholding high standards was a basic requirement of the role. I have a relentless passion for my work and enjoy creating bespoke resources that match specific learning needs. This ensures the subject is accessible to all pupils. As their love of learning grows, so does their confidence in their ability to master the subject. Personally, I will never tire of the satisfaction of watching a pupil flourish in this way.
We asked Heather to help M during her final year in 6th form. She was super supportive and M really enjoyed her tutor sessions. Heather was one of the first people M contacted after she got her results. I would have no hesitation in recommending Heather.

I have been using One Stop Tutors for GCSE and A Level tuition for my daughter. We were introduced to Heather and she has made a big difference with my daughter's A Level English learning. Heather hasn't disrupted her learning methods from school and has helped simplify her understanding. We saw a big improvement during the year on her grades and the final proof point of money well spent was my daughter getting her 1st choice uni studying English Language and Linguistics. I would strongly recommend Heather.

Mrs Heather Hartmann has been tutoring my daughter A-level since February 2022 and I am very happy to recommend her. Their first few sessions together were face-to-face meetings however, since then they have had online lessons. My daughter is now in her Upper Sixth year. I, therefore, felt she was better placed than I to describe the benefit of Heather’s tutoring. She wrote the following:
“Heather is a thorough and articulate tutor, who is dedicated to both, nurturing a student’s understanding and pushing them to their best. She has a multitude of teaching resources and methods, which she readily adapts to changing topics and students.”
Heather is amazingly tolerant and understanding of individual needs.
My son has been helped enormously with his understanding of the English GCSE assessments for both the literature and language papers. She has also made him reflect and enhance his exam technique which unfortunately was sadly lacking before her help.
Heather shows a thorough, clear understanding and enthusiasm for the set texts which she managed to help my son engage with, despite his natural resistance. She gave him the confidence to try and always went the extra mile in her flexibility regarding lesson format, resources and timings of support.
I would through recommend Heather as a tutor and can’t thank her enough for helping my son believe in himself.
Heather Hartmann is an exceptional teacher with decades of experience. Her expertise as a teacher, adviser and examiner - including her work for Ofsted - has given her a unique insight into what her students need to achieve in order to pass their exams – in particular for GCSE and A level English language and literature. Her patience and dedication to helping her student’s realise success ensure that each student receives the personal approach and tailor-made lessons they need.
